Located in southern Romania, Bucharest is the capital and the commercial center of the country. It is well known for its historic district and communist-era buildings. The city’s nightlife is praised to be lively, for tourists can enjoy tons of activities, good food and unique drinks. Bucharest is also the financial, industrial and cultural hub of Romania, and an important transportation hub of Eastern Europe. It is located just less than 37 miles from the Bulgarian border.

Romanian Athenaeum:This concert hall is an iconic landmark of the city. This domed, circular building houses some of the most remarkable performances of Romania. The concert hall is known for its magnificent interior design.

Lipscani (Bucharest Old Town):This used to be the commercial center of the city. The district has its history dated back to the Middle Ages. Most of the district has now become pedestrian zone, where visitors can admire the medieval architectures of the buildings and have a relaxing time at the cafes.

Stavropoleos Monastery:Also known as Stavropoleos Church, this is an Eastern Orthodox Church for nuns, which is located right at the center of the city. The monastery is known for its large collection of Byzantine books and its performances of Byzantine music.

Palace of the Parliament:Covering an area of more than 90 acres, it is the 2nd largest building in the world (just after the Pentagon in the US), and also the heaviest. It is now the seat of the Parliament of Romania. The building was constructed with heavy communist influence. There are 3 notable museums to be found in the vicinity, namely the National Museum of Contemporary Art, the Museum of Communist Totalitarianism and the Museum of the Palace.
