Amazing staff

The staff are amazing - the concierge gentlemen were so helpful and knowledgeable, as were the ladies on the main desk. We couldn't have asked for more friendly staff - advice, maps, welcoming, knowledgeable about the local area, tram timetables etc.

Terrible experience - never again

This hotel isn't high end however it lacks basic customer service and everything else and they charge a lot for nothing. Get in a different league. The only good experience was the concierge and the barman. That's it. The checkin staff awful, even though I cancelled my second night more than 24 hrs prior ( which is in the terms and conditions that I can) they have denied this. The staff are not capable of processing this... when I arrive they then they tell me they can't find the rep I spoke to about my changes - there are multiple phone calls not just one... I have records - the last staff person at reservations I spoke to said she would put a note on the booking that I was cancelling one night and arriving the next... well that didn't happen.
I check in finally and the staff have no idea what's going on. No notes - suggest I didn't call even though I showed my phone record and even if I didn't their rep may be overseas and we can't find out whom I spoke to ! Really what a load of rubbish ... you can check the time and whom was on desk but refused..., I showed my phone records and all.... ! May I also say this is 400 aud plus a night...
When I escalate they Won't get a proper manager to solve the issue that has any delegation. I give up - Get to the room .... not even a bottle of water! No snacks nothing... Seriously ... go to the bar downstairs for food and water - half the stuff on the menu not available... to be fair the Bar gentleman was nice....
when I go to put my dinner on my room... my booking can't be found even though I've checked in... bags upstairs and have my room key in my hand... it's fawlty towers all over

Great location, comfortable beds

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza for four nights for the Australian Grand Prix. The hotel is well located and we enjoyed great views from our two double bed river view room. The room was very clean with comfortable beds and an excellent walk in shower with lots of hot water. The staff were mostly very friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome. The exception were the concierge staff. They were unhelpful and consciously avoided eye contact every time we walked past their desk. We left our luggage while awaiting our room and when our room was available they told us that our luggage was in our room. It wasn't.
The breakfast buffet at Otties was excellent with particularly welcoming staff. The bar was quite small but has a nice ambience with friendly service. The gym was quite small but clean with a reasonable range of equipment to use.
The outdoor pool was quite cold and not heated to the advertised temperature. It gets no natural sunlight and looks onto a large building site next door.
Overall a very pleasant stay.

The hotel was good value for money during Grand Prix , the pool is a little basic and currently there is a building site , so noisy . But staff were very helpful
