The internet presentation is embellished
The trolleybus frequency is 30 minutes in weekdays and once per hour in weekends. Very few bus connections in the evening. Our adequately furnished & decorated room had: coffee table & 2 chairs, 2 wardrobes, fridge, TV, tiny balcony with chairs, an OK double bed. We had a small bathroom with washbasin, toilet & shower. All was clean. Walls are thin, you hear the neighbours.
An adequate buffet breakfast is served: fried & scrambled eggs, rolls & bread, cold-cuts & cheese, soft boiled eggs made to order, butter & marmalade, juices, yoghurt, tea & coffee. Schlosshotel Marienbad is a basic hotel and OK for a short stay. Practical when you have a car.

Fawlty Towers meets Trago Mills
Service was friendly and the owner speaks excellent English. We do not speak Czech and have very little German. There are very few British visitors and many will argue that we Brits should not expect everyone to speak our language. I would agree with this and we found the Google Translate app on our smartphones to be very useful indeed.
Although other postings speak well of the restaurant menu, we found it was limited and not very nutritious. I went to bed hungry after the first evening meal. There was just one waitress serving quite a few people. The poor lass was rushed off her feet and because of this service was slow. Breakfast was strange but adequate although more variety of fresh fruit would have been nice. On our second night there we were looked after by a young waiter who was charming and spoke excellent English.
The room itself seemed small due to its furnishings, but we were glad to have a safe in our room. One problem was that the curtains supplied were of inadequate width to cover the windows. We asked for this to be fixed and for our first night we had to use duct tape and an old blanket to cover the window. This problem was sorted on the next day. Wifi was excellent in the main area of the hotel but did not work in our room.
We were situated at the end of a long corridor which was above the kitchens and main eating area. We had to pass, probably more than ten rooms to reach our own and just outside our room at the end of the corridor were double doors which led to a 1st floor balcony over the rear door of the property. There was quite a drop, maybe 20 feet to ground level and no fire escape, no fire compartments and if a fire were to break out in just about any area of the hotel, we would have been trapped. This certainly would not have met fire requirements in the UK.
So, all in all we felt that we had been hoodwinked by all the marketing. The building is certainly not a Schloss and it is not situated in Marianske Lazne, To my taste, the food is mediocre and some menu items were inadequate. Service was polite and friendly although sometimes inefficient. Would we stay there again? Certainly not. Spend a few more Crowns and stay closer to the main part of town. It wasn't actually terrible and this is why we have given it three blobs but its own marketing led us to have higher expectations which were certainly not met.
