Amazing Stay

Wow, wow and wow.
This is a lovely hotel, everything is top notch. All of the staff are amazing, receptionist on check -in and out, bar staff, breakfast staff all deserve 5 stars.
Breakfast was great, freshly made scrambled eggs cooked to perfection . Food in the restaurant at night was good too.
Even had Half price cocktails and nibbles between 3-5 which was great after a long day walking.
We were lucky enough to be upgraded to room 104, which is a fabulous room.
Pool facilities very good and again very clean
Will definitely be back.

Not up to standard

We are found our stay at the Langdale certainly not up to the standard for the amount charged
Their attention to detail lacks, in the spa... water jugs not filled, no socks in basket for you to use foot massager, no bags in changing room to put wet costumes.... just small things but when you are paying the kind of money they charge you expect these things to be perfect.
Even in the deli you are given plastic glasses when having lunch which we thought quite bizarre. Food platter was nice.
We had a couples massage treatment which was lovely and the girls very nice.
We stayed in a riverside room. Not the luxury you would expect. Thin quilt and bedding. Pillows were terrible.
The food is the Stove Restaurant was very disappointing. Service girls were nice but didnt know anything about the food on the menu when I asked was one of the dishes spicy.... Venison Ragu was tasteless, our tomahawk steak was dry .... being polite English when asked was eveything ok we of course said yes.....
The breakfast was ok except the bacon was dried up and unable to cut, and we wouldnt say everything was very hot.
For a stay that cost over £700!!! I am left feeling disappointed and devastated by the amount of money we have paid for what we got. Was hoping to book it again for my Daughters honeymoon weekend but certainly won't be. We have stayed in far nicer more luxurious places for less money.

3 star value for 5 star prices

This was our first stay here having visited the Lake District regularly over many years and sadly was by far the biggest disappointment. The photographs for marketing are done very well and do not show the true reality. We stayed at the langdale in a tiny room with no views. Anyone walking past could see straight in. It’s is described as a spa however the facilities available for the langdale are more like a local leisure pool with children jumping in and out. Sadly when we went to use the facility was closed for health and safety reasons. So a spa visit without a spa. They are clearly understaffed with constant waits to speak to anyone or even to pay. The location is beautiful but I think they use this to justify the room charges, it does not feel like luxury. Beware also that if you I tend to use the brimstone spa this costs 170 for a couple for three hours. The website does not make you well enough aware of this. We won’t be returning sadly. Disappointed.

New Year’s Eve shambles

Gone downhill big time this year.
One time you could access your tool before 3 pm if it was done , now they don’t activate the door card till 3 pm.
Serious shortage of staff. Stoves restaurant has gone very poor. Breakfasts aren’t as good, chaos at breakfast time. No one clearing tables, plates everywhere. Not enough staff.
1 toaster that takes 3 goes. Evening meals in stoves , menu very poor and now kids portions. Service lacking.
New Year’s Eve bar , ran out of some bottled , lager , no baileys , or baby Guinness. To top it all the singer booked for New Year’s Eve decided to pack up at 10 to 12. We all decided to do our own countdown . Then someone decided to put radio 1 on Won’t be returning new year again and definitely won’t be eating in Stoves of an evening.
We asked for the bill and a waiter who we hadn’t seen us all night asked would we be leaving a tip don’t think so.

Gross

Terrible!
Booked ultimate Room 103 for £365 for the anniversary of me and my partner. They have a big double bath, so we got some champagne and had a bath together, when turning on the jets in the bath, the blew through a lot of filth and dirt, needless to say that for spending that sort of money on a room, I don’t expect to be taking a bath sat in someone else’s dirt
Complained to management about this and they said they could refund me £20. Cheeky to say to least considering the money we spent not only the room but on food and drinks that were below average and overpriced.
Shame as we have stayed a few times before and it was lovely but the lack of interest in trying to correct something for guest satisfaction was really disheartening. I didn’t expect a full refund or even half but I found £20 a bit of a cheek after the money we have spent their over the years. Will not be returning.
