Wedding Reception held at Hilton Garden Inn in Fairfax, Va was excellent!

Our daughter's Wedding Reception held in their larger Ballroom/ Banquet Hall in October 2024 went extremely well!
Julio, the Banquet Manager was present during the entire time and oversaw all aspects of the reception, lighting, audio, etc. and everything worked very smoothly. We learned that the chef as well as Julio had been working at this location for many years. The chef was wonderfully able to tweak items based on our food taste and did an amazing job even preparing a Quinoa dish according to the recipe we provided. Food was excellent and several of our relatives commented on how delicious and healthy the selections were. Maria was also present during the event and very helpful. Michael, the catering manager was very pleasant to interact with and flexible; our primary interactions with him were on the day we went for the "food tasting" and when we confirmed the menu. Our interactions with the General Manager Allen were very pleasant as well. Deannie, the Sales Manager at that time was also very pleasant to work with, flexible and helpful.

The hotel and room was nice, I only rated it three stars because I paid for the hotel via Hotels.com, however, the hotel made me pay them at the hotel as well. Need this addressed.

Hotel listings has indoor pool listed as an amenity. Unfortunately we found after checking in that the pool has been out of service for months. When this issue was brought to the site management, they felt it was most important to talk about reservations through a third party instead of directly with hotel. Management did take accountability for falsely advertising amenities that they did not have available.

Hilton Garden Inn nice properties, well appointed rooms. Awful pillows!

We are Hilton Honors members. Kevin at the front desk was very accommodating and attentive, especially with late check-out time. We were there for a funeral. Room was clean, smelled nice and it was well appointed. Everything was good value with the exception of the most hideous lumpy pillows that unfortunately most if not all Hilton Garden Inns have. I would not hesitate to reserve rooms in Hilton Garden Inn properties if it weren’t for the lumpy uncomfortable pillows. There’s no way to sleep well in them. I am also member of competitor hotel chains and I constantly make decisions worth $180 to 230 a night based on pillows worth $30. Hilton purchasing department: Save on something else! Do yourselves a favor and buy some decent pillows. Your room revenue will increase.

TERRIBLE management

I made two room reservations through Expedia at this hotel with the guarantee the reservation could be cancelled two days prior to my arrival. The reservation was not reserved as prepaid yet Hilton Garden Inn ran my credit card anyway and charged me for the two rooms. I cancelled the two rooms five days prior to arrival, well within the cancellation period advertised. The Hilton Garden Inn refuses to honor this cancellation and will not refund my money. I'm out $2,400 and I did nothing wrong!!
