Take a step back in time

Great service. Staff was top notch. It's a bit far to travel, but the views and architecture are worth it. Food is a great variety. Bar had interesting specials. Coming in the winter things are a bit limited. But worth it. Bring a swimsuit. And a good book.

This place may have once been the crown of the city.. the rooms probably haven't been updated since 1985. Dusty.. musty... old. If you're 95 youll probably love it. Service was a joke.

The only option available to book was the part of the lodge that was not updated. We asked for an upgrade at checkin but they were not able to accomodate. Instead the front desk staff provided free breakfast for our stay which was very generous. Loved my spa booking and the staff in the spa. Enjoyed the hot tub and sauna. We got the same server, Willi, at both breakfasts. He was so nice and made it a pleasure. Everything needed was onsite. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back!

Our stay at Oglebay was wonderful from start to finish. We booked a vacation for ourselves, our 20 month old and my parents. It was perfect. The restaurant and its staff were professional and accommodating. The hotel staff was fantastic. We had a problem with our room heater and they changed the whole unit within the hour! The pool area was wonderful and we swam 2x a day. We took our son to the environmental center, the horse stables and on a stroller walk on the gorgeous property through the snow when it warmed up a tiny bit. Route 88 Burgers was great for dinner one night. We didn’t visit the zoo because it was too cold out (10-20 degrees all week) but I’m sure it’s great. We stayed on the first floor of the Byrd wing close to the pool and our baby monitor even reached the Hickman Lounge area, so the adults were able to play cards, sit in front of the fire place, and visit when my son was napping or after he went to bed. All in all, a perfect, relaxing stay. We would love to return in the summer months and stay in a cottage or chalet and use the outdoor pool complex too. We highly recommend Oglebay for families!

Overpriced and dirty!

The cabins were overpriced and very dirty. We would never stay there again. We called and by the time staff arrived we had vacuumed our cabin and had taken the trash out. Somehow, the golf course was in worse shape. Be careful if you want to stay and golf.
