Great motel, car park over 200m away!
Reception was welcoming, however instruction about the car parking was too brief. We were upgraded to a window as some rooms are internal.

Excellent location, modern and clean, friendly staff.
We found the staff at reception to be extremely helpful and pleasant. We were very pleased with our room on the 4th floor, which had a lovely view of the Port Hills. It was spacious and clean, had a great choice of teas, coffee & hot chocolate, a small fridge, very comfortable bed & pillows.
We had breakfast in the restaurant on the top floor, which was excellent. The waitress was very friendly and obliging. The decor is magnificent, with the ceiling covered in hanging LED lights, and wonderful views of the Square & Convention Centre, or the Port Hills on the opposite side.
This hotel is not a large one, which we appreciated. It is in a great location for strolling around the central city, with plenty of restaurants & cafes, Art Gallery, Art Centre, etc.
Will definitely stay here again, when visiting Christchurch.

Worst check in experience
Door closed and nobody at the reception.
Ringed the bell for a while, nobody answered.
I had to call a number (spending more in international call than the hotel room) to get a guy speaking with a very strong kiwi accent telling me a code number to open the door and then another code number to open a safety lock with my key in.
Problem, I can't understand the guy because of the accent. I told him and he told me "find someone who speaks English then" and he hang on me.
At this point I'm still outside in the cold and in the dark.
I called back and finally managed to understand the code.
Get in my room to find out they don't provide free water, only paid bottles from the minibar. But the minibar is empty....
I went to sleep at 2am angry and thirsty.
I'm the morning I explained all this to the guy at the reception. He told me I can drink the water from the toilet sink... , and he pointed out that I speak with an accent, so maybe that's why I don't understand the numbers from the guy the night before.
I do have an italian accent, yes. But they have a kiwi one. No one was British in that conversation ... still i don't expect to be left outside the door with a guy hanging the phone on my face.
Latst nice move: Check out time was 10am. I asked for an extension of a couple of hours, they told me I have to pay for it.
I don't expect free stuff, but giving the circumstances it may have been a nice gesture from them... but no no.
