Unfortunately whilst staying 1 night and no other issues I was literally bitten head to toe by bed bugs. What was really disappointing was I had already committed to an additional night the following week and informed the hotel of my predicament. Whilst staying a week later no effort or acknowledgment was made by the staff to offer any form of apology for the discomfort I suffered for around a week. Very poor customer focus and will not on that basis ever stay again!! The correct response behaviour towards customers is a necessity in the hotel sector, it doesn’t take a great deal to achieve

Check in: friendly, professional and easy.
Room: clean, nicely done, comfortable with a beautiful view, though the railway line right next to the room wasn't mentioned. Trains were infrequent and not a problem noise-wise though.
All was good until 7.30am on Sunday morning when the chef's need to listen to the radio is obviously seen as more important than allowing Guests to enjoy their night's sleep.
The thumping bass and muted singing coming up into the room meant 7.30 was when our sleep was over.
Breakfast: You have to pre-order what you want and what time you want it! Really? As it turned out we asked for breakfast at 9am, but we could have had it much earlier as we were awake from 7.30am with the music.
What happened to being able to choose what you want to eat (and when you want to eat it) based on how you feel in the morning?
The full cooked was very tasty. My daughter's bacon sandwich was very plain though, made with basic sliced white bread.
Unfortunately the music blaring from the kitchen clashed with the different music coming from the speakers in the dining room making for a very non-relaxing breakfast experience.
We had to ask for butter to go with the toast, but by the time the cold, hard butter came, the toast was also cold so spreading it was challenging.
Overall this is nice place, in a great setting and the room was lovely, but our experience in the morning with the music and some aspects of the breakfast service took the edge off our stay.

Arrived just too late to order food so ordered on just eat. When it was delivered, the owner (Male) happened to be near the entrance when i went down stairs to collect. He immediately stated that i wasnt allowed to eat in my room and that i would have to eat downstairs with everyone else which i definitely didnt want to do. I ended up pleading with him to let me eat in my room stating that id been on the road from 8am that morning and it was now 8.30 at night and i was shattered and far from feeling sociable. I even said id eat on the floor so not to get anything on the bed sheets. He eventually gave in and asked what room i was in, presumably so he could check it personally in the morning. He insinuated if there were any stains on the bed sheets or anywhere else, i would be charged but by this time i just agreed as all i wanted to do was get to my room and eat my long awaited dinner.
To add to this, i had to phone down to ask to put the heating on as radiators were stone cold, ridiculous as we were in the middle of winter! To be fair, the lady was helpful and polite, especially compared to her male colleague who'd to be honest, made me feel very uncomfortable.
There were Christmas parties going on down stairs, understandable due to time of year but no sound proofing in rooms, meant it was quite noisy and far from relaxing. When the bar closed i expected it to quieten down but then tables were screeched and staff were lol. Definitely wouldn't recommend ill not stay again 😔

A beautiful homely hotel. I’ve stayed 3 or 4 times while away on business and I’ll continue to stay here.
The ambiance and service is really homely and personable. Great food in the bar and the breakfasts too. Really good value
